Avian Influenza Partnership” in Sri Lanka

As a follow up to the discussions held during the development partners (donor agencies) meeting of 16 March, an “Avian Influenza Partnership” has been established in Sri Lanka with the primary purpose of ensuring partner coordination in the provision of support to the development and implementation of effective and concerted country level pandemic preparedness and response against Avian Influenza (AI). The partnership will serve as a primary contact and coordination body for Sri Lanka- development partners, NGOs and other stakeholders - on issues related to responding to the AI threat.

The partnership will aim at enabling the implementation of the Government of Sri Lanka’s “National Influenza Pandemic preparedness Plan: drawn by the MOH” and “Sri Lanka Exotic Disease Emergency Plan: drawn by the department of Animal Production & Health” by ensuring that adequate technical and financial support become available in a timely fashion.
